Privacy policy — Hard Facts → Anki extension
Last updated: June 1, 2026
What this extension does
The Hard Facts → Anki browser extension lets you sync flashcards from Hard Facts into Anki on your own computer using the AnkiConnect add-on. It runs only on the Hard Facts website (and localhost during development).
Data the extension handles
- Card content — Event, date, Wikipedia links, and optional image URLs already shown on the Hard Facts page you have open. This data is read from the page and sent to AnkiConnect on
127.0.0.1:8765on your machine to create or update Anki notes. It is not sent to Hard Facts servers by the extension for syncing. - AnkiConnect — Communication with your local Anki instance only.
- Wikimedia (optional) — If you enable card images during sync, the extension downloads image files from Wikimedia/Wikipedia hosts to store in your Anki media folder. No account is required.
What we do not collect
The extension does not require a separate login, does not store your Anki collection on our servers, and does not sell or share personal data. The extension package does not load or execute remote JavaScript; all extension code is bundled in the install package.
Hard Facts website
Using Hard Facts itself (sign-in, cloud library, etc.) is governed by how you use the website and your hosting provider; that is separate from this extension, which only bridges the open tab and local Anki.
